    Young Curators

    We are pleased to announce that L Contemporary is launching the first edition of the Young Curators open call, a program aimed at students and recent graduates in Fine Arts, Art History, Cultural Management, and related fields.

     

    The objective of this project is to offer a space for a young curator to develop and present their own exhibition project in our gallery during the summer, with professional support and the opportunity to experience curatorial work in a real context.

  • Requisitos de participación

    1. Participation Requirements

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s students, as well as recent graduates (up to 3 years after completing their studies), may participate.

    • No previous curatorial experience is required, but an interest in the curatorial field and the ability to develop a solid exhibition concept are necessary.

    • Individual or duo proposals are accepted.

    • The curatorial dossier must be submitted through the following form.

    2. Required Documentation

    Each application must include a curatorial dossier (maximum 25 pages) in PDF format, containing the following sections:

    1. Title and concept of the exhibition.

    2. Curatorial justification: objectives, target audience, relevance of the theme. (It's a curatorial project; you can't do a self-exhibition.)

    3. Selection of artists and works with a brief explanation of the choices.

    4. Installation proposal: spatial layout, room distribution, or visual references.

    5. Production Plan: Dates and details on how the installation will be carried out and organized.

    6. Parallel activities: talks, mediation, workshops, etc. (optional).

    7. Brief budget estimate, up to €1500 (production, installation, fees).

    8. Updated CV of the applicant.

    9. (The clarity, originality, and feasibility of the project will be evaluated.)

    3. Conditions

    • The selected candidate will receive support from the gallery team for the production and installation of the exhibition.

    • The exhibition will run for 6 weeks at the gallery.

    • The gallery may produce interviews, audiovisual material, or a digital catalogue related to the exhibition.

    4. Evaluation and Jury

    Proposals will be evaluated by a jury composed of:

    • The gallery team.

    • An invited external curator.

    • A recognized professional artist.

    Evaluation criteria:

    • Originality and relevance of the proposal.

    • Curatorial coherence.

    • Feasibility of execution within the gallery space.


    5. Timeline
    • Call opens: Friday, December 5

    • Call closes: Sunday, April 5

    • Jury decision: Tuesday, May 5

    • Exhibition dates: Friday, June 12 – Monday, July 31, 2026

     

    6. Acceptance of the Terms

    Participation in this call implies full acceptance of its terms and conditions.
