M.Lohrum: Black Field. Feet Drawings

'Black Field. Feet Drawings' consists of a selection of works that the artist made during a performance, drawing doodles with compressed charcoal sticks in both hands and then spreading the material over the paper, so that the lines were transformed in black fields. For this task the artist used both feet, exploring the range of possible movements and drags, and occasionally winking at dance steps. In

In the final phase of the process, the scribbles were recovered on a surface layer. The drawings The resulting pieces come in two sizes: 150 x 150 cm and 75 x 75 cm.

 

'Black Field. Feet Drawings' also includes 'Doodle Stomp', a work on paper

larger dimensions created in the ATC Gallery, a few days before the inauguration, together with a group of participating collaborators following the same guidelines. The accompanying video This work is a recording of the collaborative performance.

 

M.Lohrum defines her artistic practice as performative drawing. Explore the drawing as result of performative processes, in which the act of drawing and the paper are focused that the entirety of his body plays in it. In this sense, use the drawing to

reflect and question the very concept of drawing. The body, the gesture, the expressiveness, the Physical character and movement are key factors in his work, and he conceives the creation of marks and strokes as a visual expression of movement-based thinking.
